New brand? PR vs Advertising. What will it be?

New brand? PR vs Advertising. What will it be?

As a PR Agency specialising in communication for start up businesses’ it’s a debate we often hear. You’re a start up; a new brand that’s trying to pave a way for yourself, make your mark in the big, competitive world… but with limited funds. One of the most challenging things when you’re a ‘new’ brand/ company/ organisation is establishing your voice to make sure that a) you’re heard and b) you stand out from the crowd. No one likes to blend in, not by choice anyway.       So when you roll the dice, where you do spend your precious pennies? PR is absolutely crucial for new brands and the entrepreneurs behind them. Why? Because ‘earned media’ or editorial coverage is the best way to create awareness and raise the profile of a business or...

Public relations and social media – who does what?

Public relations and social media – who does what?

Public relations and social media, we believe, go together like a fish to water. Like ham with mustard. Like Brad and Ange. We know you’ve got it. To us, it’s a no-brainer. If you are an authentic, all-rounder, public relations specialist, then you should be able to write well, spell, have an excellent understanding of grammar and in essence to us, that makes you a great communicator. Social media is all about communication. We believe this means you should also once again be able to spell, write well… you get the gist. So, social media, especially the content, should involve good communicators. Don’t you think? This seems to be the opinion of many of our fabulous clients too. We love being able to communicate on behalf of our clients as...

Toy Fair Media Madness thanks to Moose Toys

Toy Fair Media Madness thanks to Moose Toys

TODAY Show, Studio 10, media relations, bloggers, Toy of the year announcements, this week’s activities at Toy Fair had it all. Emma Freedman wearing a Zelfs wig, our own  Michelle, Alix G and Alex D dressed as giant Trash Pack characters, an intense game of Dobble with some of our favourite bloggers, and a new star is born in Kidz News ‘reporter’ Madi, our mini-Immerse gal. It’s been a big week! Nick Heine, Moose-ologist, was a brilliant correspondent for Studio 10, showing Ita, Sarah, Joe and Jess the goss from Toy Fair, before they were transformed into Zelfs! We love thinking of creative ideas for media and got some brilliant feedback from the producers at the network for this brilliant and fun segment. Check it out here. Then on...

Happy 10th Birthday Facebook!

Happy 10th Birthday Facebook!

So yesterday was Facebook’s 10th Birthday. That lil-social-networking-site-that-could is all grown up. Facebook has revolutionised the way people connect globally and has seen some significant changes since launching in 2004. After humble beginnings as a US-college only network to launching globally the platform now has over 1.23 billion monthly users. Who remembers the introduction of the Newsfeed, moving away from a ‘profile’ and more of a stream or feed of information, what about the introduction of the Like button in 2009?  Moving into timeline in 2011 and of course, the acquisition of Instagram in 2012. We’ve no doubt all seen the Social Network, so we won’t go into too much detail about Justin Timberlake’s involvement in...
