Three easy tips for working with bloggers

There are now thousands of bloggers in Australia and that number is growing every day. They represent a huge slice of the consumer demographic and have the ability to reach an even bigger proportion through their blogs and social media channels.

To make sure that your brand isn’t left behind, here are three key steps to making sure the relationship with bloggers is a good one.

1. Be specific.
To ensure the best results, make sure you are clear about what it is you want the blogger or bloggers to do for you from the get go. Are you looking for a one off campaign? Or are you looking to build a longer relationship? Is it just social media coverage you are after, or do you need a blog post from them? Don’t be afraid to be upfront about what’s in it for them, and what you are hoping for in return.

2. Be respectful.
Working with bloggers is no different to working with anyone else. Try to be genuine; get to know the blogger and take the time to understand what angles might work for them. Over time, a relationship will build and who knows, you might be able to move them from a blogger to a natural advocate.

3. Go get them.
Don’t be afraid to broaden your list of bloggers. There are some great services out there such, which can help you connect with new bloggers in an easy and efficient manner. By engaging new bloggers every now and then, or maybe even trying a new genre of blogger altogether, you are opening the door to a whole new audience with fresh eyes, looking at your product.
